This is going to be the official website for Atlanta's march for Equality, happening this Saturday November 15th, 2008.
Atlanta will be one of many major cities holding rallies, and marches to show our opposition to the passing of proposition 8 in California, as well as demand marriage equality.
America saw a great day when the first minority was elected president this past Tuesday, but the LGBT community received devastating news that many amendments and propositions had passed which further the community as a second class community.
The purpose of these marches on Saturday is to send an echoing message across the nation that we are not second class citizens, and we will not stand for inequality.
The time is now- if we remain silent, then the people who oppose equality come out victorious.
The rally is for anyone: Gay, Bi, Straight, Lesbian, Transgendered, Black, White, Asian etc. Anyone who wants to stand up to this government and say we wont be silenced!
The rally will begin at 1:30 pm on Saturday November 15th
it is located at City Hall downtown
(68 Mitchell Street
Atlanta, Ga 30303)
we will then march together to the state capital let our voices be heard- and has yet to be determined, but possibly march to midtown ending there with a lunch somewhere...many speakers have been contacted, and organizations as well.
Flyers will be going out and around the city tomorrow, and sovo.com has featured the rally
