Guidelines and such

I truly can not believe how this started off as such a small event and thanks to the support and help from all of you- it is turning into and coming together to be a major success.
I am writing this message to first of all thank every single one of you who is coming, who has flyered, who has spread the word- changed your status...anything.

Secondly: some issues people have asked me about- such as parking- marta- signs etc...here are some guidelines. PLEASE READ

If you are planning on driving, there is parking available around the area. Visitors in automobiles may park in state parking lots, which charge a nominal fee. Lots which are available for public parking include: the Archives parking lot on Capitol Avenue, the Steve Polk Plaza parking lot and the public lot at Underground Atlanta located on Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive. There are also additional private parking lots surrounding the capitol building and on side streets. Keep in mind we are expecting large crowds and these will fill up fast, so MARTA is the best option.

MARTA exits located nearest the Capitol are the Georgia State Station (directly across from the Capitol in the Sloppy Floyd/Twin Towers complex) or the Five Points station (two blocks west of the Capitol at Underground Atlanta).

As we mentioned, we are encouraging everyone to bring signs with positive messages. We are reminding everyone to avoid phrases or images that attack any particular group. Yes, our rights have been taken away, but fighting hate with hate will get us no where. This is a peaceful protest to show our unity and to raise our voices for equality.

What to expect at the event:

We encourage everyone to bring signs, banners, and wear supporting T-shirts. You are welcome to bring your family, friends, children and allies. There will be adequate police coverage on sight and we have also laid plans for the possibility of counter-protesters (and arrangements have been made to ensure the safety of all participants).

According to GA regulations, signs must be hand held and not attached to any poles (or anything that could reasonably be defined as a weapon).

We have several speakers lined up to address those in attendance

SOME SIGN IDEAS:
Real Family Values value every family
Honk if You Support Equality
Thanks for Supporting Equality
We WILL Have Marriage Equality
Second Class No More
Love is All You Need
Striaight Christian for Gay Rights
Love, not H8 (or hate)
Out for xx Years and STILL FIGHTING for The Right to Love Whom I Choose!

finally- it looks like it may rain until about 10 or 11...but dont let that discourage you- the event will go on regardless of weather...and should have stopped raining by start time.

finally if anything is updated last minute tomorrow i will send out one final email- sorry for the mass amounts. wanted to make sure everyone was given sign ideas, guidelines, parking info etc.
Lastly- if you see me at the rally be sure to come say hey! its been a pleasure talking to all of you. see you sat! and spread the word tomorrow
